Fenerbahce stars Roberto Carlos and Alex de Souza signed the official contract extensions for Fenerbahce today at the magnificient Faruk Ilgaz Facilities. Alex, who has become an integral member of Fenerbahçe SK's midfield and helped the team to the quarter-finals of last season's UEFA Champions League, is going to stay at Fenerbahce for two more years, whereas international star Roberto Carlos is going to wear Fenerbahce's kit for one more season.
"Alex and Carlos have played a great part for Fenerbahce and there was absolutely no reason for us not to extend their deals. I hope they'll both stay at Fenerbahce for many more years. Roberto Carlos signed his contract extension in July, but we did not want to confirm it before. He is an international star and a very important part of our club. On the other hand, this is Alex's fifth season in Istanbul. He has become a public figure that is admired by everyone all around the country. He has been representing our club as the team's captain. They look after themselves and you have to admire that perseverance and determination.", revealed Aziz Yildirim, the President of Fenerbahce, today at the magnificient Faruk Ilgaz Facilities.
Alex de Souza stressed that he is very happy in Istanbul and added: "I want to thank our President for giving me another two years to wear Fenerbahce's precious kit. I've been playing for this club for five years, and my only aim is to lead us to great victories."
Roberto Carlos mentioned that he loves the fans and his friends a lot, revealing: "Alex is a great leader on the pitch. There is a great friendly atmosphere in our team. Everyone has been congratulating us on our contract extensions. I hope our friendship will be our key to the ultimate success."
